Visit the Circulation Desk to register for a card in person at the library. You may apply for a new card, replace a lost one, or update your current card. Library cards are free of charge to all California residents.

You will need to provide a form of valid, government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport, that shows your home address. If your photo ID does not match your current address, bring in a piece of mail or other official document such as a lease agreement or utility bill that lists your full legal name and current home address. If you do not have proof of address, we will send you a postcard that you can bring in as your proof of address once you receive it in the mail.

Children ages 12 and under are eligible to register for their own library cards with the presence of a parent or legal guardian and their parent's or legal guardian's photo ID and proof of address.

Teens ages 13-17 can apply for their own card without a parent or legal guardian present and are not required to provide photo ID or proof of address.

If your card is lost or stolen, please visit the Circulation Desk in person with your photo ID and proof of address to receive a replacement card. A replacement charge of $2.00 will be applied to your account.

Yes, if you already have a library account, you may check out items at the Circulation Desk using a government-issued photo ID. You can also use the Digital Library Card that is stored in the Black Gold app, or a photo of your library card saved to your smartphone, without providing your ID.

Yes. You can sign in to your account online with your library barcode and password to view a list of items that you currently have checked out, items you have requested, fines you may owe, and your reading history (opt-in required; see instructions below).

Holds can be placed on library materials through the online catalog. Please view this helpful video on how to place holds to get started. Library staff are also available to assist you with placing holds in person, via phone, or via email. You will be notified when the item is available for pick-up.

For privacy purposes, your reading history is not automatically recorded by our library software. If you would like your account to keep a running list of all the items you have checked out from this date forward, please follow these steps:

2. Click on “Your Account”
3. Click on “Reading History”
4. Click on “Start Recording My Reading History”

From now on, you can see a list of all the items you’ve checked out using your library card.

You can request to receive library notifications via email, text message, or phone. To change your settings, please follow these steps:

3. Click on “Account Settings”
4. Click on “Messaging Settings”

Yes. You can “Freeze” a request, allowing you to delay delivery of requested items for your convenience. You will not lose your place in the hold queue, but you must remember to "Thaw" the reserve in order for your hold to be filled.

Yes. You can request materials from any of the Black Gold Cooperative member libraries. When the material arrives, you will be notified and it will be held at the Circulation Desk.

Your library card number is located under the barcode on the back of your library card. By default, your password is set to the last four digits of your phone number on file. If you would like to change your password, sign in to your account and select Reset PIN/Password. Contact the library if you need additional assistance.
