Goleta Valley Library Bookvan Serves Isla Vista

Library BookvanThe Goleta Valley Library's Bookvan for the Isla Vista community began service on Monday, October 4, 2021. The Bookvan operates Monday through Friday with stops throughout the Isla Vista area. The specialty van holds approximately 500 books and is powered with Wi-Fi and a solar battery. The Bookvan provides library services to the wider Isla Vista community with the delivery of books, audiovisual materials, Library of Things items, technology, craft kits for kids, Honor System books, free books, and more. Library cards are issued to everyone who wants one. Free Wi-Fi is available near the van for patrons to download some of the 1 million+ items available through the Goleta Valley Library e-Library.

The Bookvan schedule repeats every two weeks.

Summer Reading Program

Preschool, School Age, Teens, Adults

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in our annual Summer Reading Program, “All Together Now,” from June 10th – July 29th!

Visit your local branch to register for the program and pick up a reading log to get started.

How it Works: 

Youth Participants (grades 6 and under) earn prizes after reading 5 Books, 10 Books, and 15 Books. Readers should bring their logs to the library or the Bookvan to report on their reading and receive their prizes. Participants who read more than 15 Books will continue to earn prizes for every five additional books they read.

Teen Participants (grades 7 and up) earn prizes after reading 1 Book, 2 Books, and 3 Books. Readers should bring their log to a library staff member to receive their prizes. Participants who read more than 3 books will continue to earn prizes for every additional book they read.

Adult Participants ages 18 and up will earn one prize drawing ticket for every book they read. Drawings will be held each week!
